Mona Lisa Etched Cuff

OMG time is something I seem to have little of lately. I had meant to get the other images up sooner of recent cuffs and necklaces but darn time to do so never came around...really who has "spare time" these days and if you do may I have some please?. My jewellery is happily in a shop in Queensland now. The shop is called Damsel In This dress and its located in Robina plus they have a Facebook site. Its still so odd for me to think of my jewellery in a shop some place. Here is a photo they sent me of one of thier beautiful models wearing thier gorgeous vintage style clothes and my jewellery!!!

The cuff she has on is the Mona Lisa cuff below. Its etched brass, aged with patina and has an ice resin filled bezel plus floral brass stampings.

My Mum left yesterday and we had an awesome time together. We ate too much and seemes to be busy doing just what I am not sure LOL. We did fit in a Tiwi Island day tour which was awesome. I had never been before and it was very interesting and enjoyable. After I sort thru the 100 odd emails I have neglected I'll get some more jewellery images up :o)

New CUFFS-dog cuff!!!

We had a smooth and cold trip to Adelaide and I am back home now without Grant.  The nights in Adelaide were bitterly cold for us tropical climate dwellers with the overnight temp down to 2 degrees. I was overjoyed to see my beautiful girls again but in the back of my mind was that I would be leaving Grant here for a year for him to work at Adelaide Zoo...while Tim and I stayed in Darwin. It was very hard leaving him at the airport and I only got on the plane. I'm already itching to find out his new roster at Adelaide zoo so I can get him a flight home when he has four days off. While he is away I am going to keep myself busy with lots of art.

A few weeks before I left my daughter Missy told me about a shop asking if anyone wanted to sell thier hand made items on commission. They make hand made vintage style clothing. I thought what the heck and sent them the link to here to see my jewellery. To my utter surprise they loved what I make and I have since sent them all the pieces I had that were yet to sell. I also made them several vintage style, ice resined, bottle cap necklaces. I only had one etched cuff so made some more cuffs before we left for Adelaide. This is the first one. Its etched nickel silver with black patina for solder on top to age it. The focal is a vintage hand painted dog, large ?china cabochon. Underneath that there is a brass filigree stamping that is also aged with black patina for solder

I loved the look of this one but its safely in the shop window now. I'll upload the other cuffs over the next few days.
My dear Mum arrives on Friday and will be here for 12 days so after she goes I shall immerse myself in arty goodness :o)

Hand painted Artist Trading Card by Lauren

Don't you love getting arty mail? A lovely lady from QLD sent me the nicest comments and I in turn admire her artistic style and comment back at her posts. Lauren does scrapping but she also makes artist trading cards and draws and paints. When I made my last lot of resin rings Lauren admired a rimg I made with the Tim Holtz spinner in it so I sent it to her(also as her birthday present :o). In return I received some amazing art by Lauren in the mail. She made me an awesome thank you card and a hand painted artist trading card.
I  was blown away by Lauren's ATC...what a lucky lady I am!!

Thank you so much Lauren and I will try to frame this ATC some how...it's too gorgeous to be poked away in my ATC album!!

Fourth Class with Finnabair In Darwin

This was the last class we did with Finnabair here in Darwin. We started late and were still trying to get it completed at 7pm. I just got too tired to continue and had to leave hoping I will complete this at a later date. This time we made a journal from scratch using tea bags! So here is my front cover. The last spray of colour was a black with gold mixed in it so it was hard to photograph without reflecting light even with no flash on. The four round circles are round tea bags.

 The dark spot on the heart at lower right on the tea bag is a deep dark red...like the heart is bleeding.

This is one of the inner pages. It isn't finished and the photos are not even glued down but I just loved the effect of the bg we made.

This retreat was up there with the best I have ever done. Finnabair was lovely and I would highly recommend you do her classes if she comes to your part of the World.

Third Class With Finnabair In Darwin

The third class we did with Finnabair was my favourite. Having been a paper arts person for so long , although I loved how the layouts looked, I'm not sure they would be something I would do again. Sure I'll use  the techniques I learned but scrapping layouts may not be what evolves with them LOL. This class was done on canvas and was full of texture. I really like the effect of the graduated colour you get too. here is my canvas.

So you can see by what I made compared to Finnabair's samples,  the effect changes with where you decide the lighter areas should go. I'm so happy with mine I am going to hang it in my art space...that is a rarity for me :o).

Second Class With Finnabair in Darwin

The second class with Finnabair was another layout style one with the image more centrally located. It started with stamping but included lace, cs strips, washi tape, chipboard elements and then once the photo was stuck on, embellishments added and colour sploshes all over. It gave a much more softer look to end result. Another class I totally loved full of inky arty fun. Here is what I made.

Finnabair Classes Darwin

I have just done two days of awesome, creative classes with Finnabair (Anna Dabrowska - Pekocka) who came all the way from Poland and taught classes right here in Darwin for Rae Cooper who owns Scrapmatrix and lives in the next suburb to me. It was full on grungy, industrial, inky, arty FUN. It was four classes in total and I have tried to take lots of photos of what I made so I shall only post one class photos at a time. This is what I made in day 1 first class.

I love this grungy style of creating and know I will use it again. Although theses are layouts they are also perfectly suited to wall art. Our main computer is on the blink again so I am using my sons and will upload the other three classes over a few days.
